چکیده
1. Introduction Our understanding of polymer dynamics has greatly improved due to the reptation model and the scaling ideas. [1] According to scaling and reptation theory, the diffusion coefficient in semidilute or concentrated regimes is related to the molar mass and polymer concentration by D ~ M-2 c-1.75 and D ~ M-2 c-3 for good-solvent and θ-solvent conditions, respectively. In a limited range of polymer concentration, these relationships are supported by experimental data. [2-5] Fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS) can be used to study the dynamics in a wide concentration range. However, the application of FCS in polymer science has almost entirely been limited to the area of biomacromolecules and aqueous media [6,7] and the application of FCS in organic media is rarely reported. [8] In this work, the diffusion of Rhodamine B labeled polystyrene (PS) chains in dilute and semidilute toluene solutions was studied by FCS.

Probe diffusion in aqueous poly(vinyl alcohol) solutions studied by fluorescence correlation spectroscopy.
We report fluorescence correlation spectroscopy measurements of the translational diffusion coefficient of various probe particles in dilute and semidilute aqueous poly(vinyl alcohol) solutions. The range of sizes of the particles (fluorescent molecules, proteins, and polymers) was chosen to explore various length scales of the polymer solutions as defined by the polymer-polymer correlation len...

Nanoscale dynamic heterogeneities in synthetic polymer solutions are detected using super-resolution optical microscopy. To this end, we map concentration fluctuations in polystyrene-toluene solutions with spatial resolution below the diffraction limit, focusing on critical fluctuations near the polymer overlap concentration, c*. Two-photon super-resolution microscopy was adapted to be applicab...

We determine the mobility of dye-labeled polystyrene molecules in solution by fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS) over a wide range of concentrations and molecular weights (ranging from 3.9 x 10{3} to 1550 x 10{3} g/mol ). In order to obtain absolute values of the diffusion coefficient, which can be compared to diffusion coefficients determined by other methods, the size of the focal vo...
متن کاملFluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy Study of Probe Diffusion in Poly(Vinyl Alcohol) Solutions and Gels
In this study, we demonstrate how the diffusion of probe particles in aqueous poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) solutions and gels is affected by: (i) the presence of cross-links, (ii) the cross-link density, (iii) the polymer concentration. We apply fluorescence correlation spectroscopy (FCS) to measure the diffusion time of a rhodamine-based fluorescent particle (TAMRA) and TAMRA-labeled dextran in P...
متن کاملThermally induced sign change of Soret coefficient for dilute and semidilute solutions of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) in ethanol.
We studied the thermal diffusion behavior of poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNiPAM) in ethanol in a temperature range from T = 14.0 degrees C to T = 40.0 degrees C by means of thermal diffusion forced Rayleigh scattering. The obtained Soret coefficient S(T) of PNiPAM was positive for lower temperatures (T < 34 degrees C), while S(T) showed a negative value for higher temperatures (T > 34 degrees ...
